Tom Duncan is a graduate of Edinburgh and London (Birkbeck College) Universities. He has a degree in Science and Mathematics and an Honours degree in Physics. He is a Member of the Institute of Physics and a Chartered Physicist.
He was trained as a teacher at Moray House College and obtained a Diploma in Education in addition to the Teacher’s Certificate.
During his teaching career he taught in a variety of schools, both state and private, at home and, for a three year spell, in Istanbul.
After early retirement from his post as Deputy Head of a Comprehensive School he set up a tutoring agency, Wey Tutors, which supplied tutors to schools and private students in Surrey. He has recently retired from that but continues to tutor private students.
He has an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.
He plays tennis and golf and is a keen photographer.
